I have never had a job. I am self-employed with ample cashflow to make mortgage payments, but no bank I have asked will let me take out a mortgage without two years of tax returns.

I want to refinance my mortgage and I want to start a home business before doing so. It would have no employees and I would still keep my current job. My home business will not require any due balances or credit lines to increase my debt. Would mortgage companies see the worry that I would quit my regular job or would they trust that I would maturely handle the mortgage payments? In other words, would I have no problems getting refinanced under these conditions. My credit score is about 650 and I’ve been at my current job for 1 1/2 years but have had steady employment for a long time. I have also paid my mortgage on time for twelve months.
The reason I am asking is because what I will be doing requires a vendor license. Therefore, in my ssn, it would show the business based at my home address.
I am actually looking for a new mortgage loan, not a home equity loan or personal loan and I don’t need to steal to pay debts.

So I am reading about the subprime mortgage crisis and the huge number of foreclosures. I have read about how subprime mortgages are loans given to people with less than ideal credit. My question is more simple. Why did this defaulting and foreclosures happen now as opposed to, say, a few years back. Did something trigger this whole crisis now?

My wife and I reaffirmed our mortgage with Wells Fargo Financial after filing bankruptcy. The papers were signed April 22nd with payments to resume May 18th 2009. We have been paying our mortgage every month but still have not received a monthly statement. How long should it take to start receiving a statement again?

I am refinancing a ballon to a fixed rate mortgage and in the agreement it says that I have to occupy the property for at least one year after refinance closing. Can I start to look for a buyer now tho?

I am currently 6 months behind on my mortgage with wells fargo and have been turned down once for a loan modification…and am planning on applying again. I have recently started getting a lot more hours at work as has my husband so I think we are means to start paying the mortgage again, would it be stupid to start paying again even if we can’t come up with all of the back payments? Will it help keep us in our house?

My wife lost her job and I had cutbacks at mine. I’ve done everything I can and everything the bank has asked but to no help. We have 2 vehicles that are both financed and no real assets to speak of. Does anyone know what the bank will do when I start missing my mortgage payment? Does anyone have any suggestions?

My sister, a nurse, is off work due to a damaged leg and her husband (deadbeat) quit his job just a couple of days after she got hurt and hasn’t gotten a new one in the last 5 weeks. She doesn’t have sick leave or temporary disability insurance. She missed this month’s mortgage payment. She will probably be off work another 4-6 weeks if her leg heals okay. So that means missing at least a second and maybe a third payment. But her doctor worries with the type of fracture she had that it may rebreak after she gets the cast off and tries to walk on it with even a boot. Then he would have to do surgery with plates and pins. She could be off work for up to 3 months more if that happens, which would put her missing almost 6 payments. I don’t want her to lose her house, but I don’t want to give her any money until she is truly at risk because I don’t want her husband to benefit from it.
